Learning Ruby on Rails

October 22, 2006

I started learning Ruby on Rails today, primarily via O’Reilly’s “Ruby On Rails: Up and Running.”:http://www.amazon.com/Ruby-Rails-Running-Bruce-Tate/dp/0596101325/sr=8-1/qid=1161537578?ie=UTF8&tag2=dougmillernet-20 I’m just starting out but already I’m finding an affinity for Rails very similar to what I felt when I first started learning “PHP”:http://php.net years ago. From what I’m seeing developing in Rails is lightning fast and amazingly productive. I only wish I were doing more hands-on development at work rather than development project management; sinking my teeth into a real application or two is probably just the ticket here for some accelerated learning.
